Crew, Not Passengers! Team & Trust Building at Camp Pinnacle

Camp Pinnacle

October 8, 2015

Shared below are just a few photos to capture the spirit of our second annual FSI pilgrimage to Camp Pinnacle!  The weather was perfect and, thanks to FSI Teachers, Parent Volunteers, and especially the Crew of Pinnacle Planners and Logistical Advisors, led by Chris DeFiore and including Krista Skrede, Ben Williamson, Edie McDowell, Michelle Vruwink, Beth Rhatigan and Gaylord Chambers, the tradition of building trust and team spirit in CREWS and by grade levels has been carried on with great success.

This year’s adventure included individual grade level challenges and rites of passage, from the Monkey Bridge/Lily Pad crossings in grade 6 to the High School 10th grade canoe paddle.  FSI’s Adventure Education experiences for all grade levels were rooted in the Design Principles of Expeditionary Learning:

Upon our return to school, FSI scholars have been actively debriefing the Camp Pinnacle adventure and identifying ways to transfer skills, knowledge, & understanding gained through experience in the field to Habits of Scholarship in the classroom.

Thanks very much to the Dockendorf family for generously hosting this whole school FSI learning experience at Camp Pinnacle.
